Measure before you mount. RAILZ, GLOWZ and HALOZ mount under the boot between your trucks. Measure that space to confirm fit. Most fit women's size 3 / men's size 4 and up.

Charge & Power On

Charge (RAILZ, GLOWZ, HALOZ, SOULZ)

  • Plug the included USB-C cables into each unit.
  • About: RAILZ & SOULZ 90 min · HALOZ & GLOWZ 60 min.
  • RAILZ, HALOZ & SOULZ: the blue LED blinks while charging and stops when full. The 4 indicator LEDs show battery level (1 = 25%, 2 = 50%, 3 = 75%, 4 = 100%).
  • GLOWZ: red while charging, off when full.
  • Charge until completely full before setup and each skate session.

Power on / off

Find the power button.

  • RAILZ: single click to power on, single click to power off.
  • HALOZ & SOULZ: single click to power on, double click to power off.
  • GLOWZ: short press to power on, long press to power off.
  • CLIPZ: uses 2 × CR2032 coin cells (4 included). Tap the button to turn it on, then tap again to change modes.

Test before you install. Power on every unit (and connect RAILZ bars / SOULZ strips) on the bench first. That way you know everything works before you take your skates apart.

Install on Your Skates

Choose your product. Skate brands have different boot and plate setups, so treat these guides as a reference and adjust for your skates.

Safety first. Review the full guide before installing and make sure everything is mounted securely. Nothing should touch or rub your wheels. Injuries resulting from improper use are not the responsibility of Neogleamz.

No extra tools needed. RAILZ comes with everything to install, including the skate tool, plate wrench and scissors.

Steps

  1. Charge & bench-test
    • Fully charge both control units.
    • Connect a pair of RAILZ bars to each unit and power on to confirm every bar lights up.
  2. Loosen the plate nuts
    • Use the boot plate wrench to loosen, not remove, the nuts that hold your plate to your boot. Loosen them just enough to slide the RAILZ mounting tabs snugly between plate and boot.
    • You don't need to remove your wheels. Only if a wheel blocks a plate nut, take that wheel off with the included skate tool.
  3. Mount the control unit
    • Unscrew the elastic strap from the control unit with the M1.5 Allen SK8Tool & Allen Wrench. Both sides are adjustable, so you can open either end.
    • Position the control unit with its connectors facing the heel of the boot.
    • Boots with a heel gap: lay the skate on its side and slip the open end of the strap through the heel gap.
      Boots without a heel gap: take the clip off the strap, loosen the boot from the plate, slide the band under the boot, center it and reassemble.
    • Pull the strap very tight. Apply double-sided tape or velcro to the unit, press it onto the plate, then hand-tighten the screws until snug. Do not overtighten.
  4. Position the RAILZ bars
    • Slide the integrated mounting tabs of each 5.5" bar between the plate and boot, one bar along each side of the plate.
    • Face the wires toward the heel of the boot, then line each bar up evenly with the plate.
    • Adjust tab angle until the bars sit close to the boot without bulging.

    Tab hitting a bolt? If an integrated tab runs into a plate bolt as you slide the bar in, trim that part of the tab with the included scissors until the bar sits flush. Trim a little at a time.

  5. Tighten the plate
    • Hold the bars in place and tighten all plate/boot nuts with the plate wrench.
  6. Route, secure & connect wires
    • Tuck and secure the wires so they can't catch on the wheels, trucks or the ground.
    • On most skates it's easy to criss-cross the wires between the trucks and zip tie them directly to the trucks. Zip ties are included.
    • Then plug both bars into the control unit's connectors at the heel.
  7. Check clearance
    • If you took off any wheels, put them back on.
    • Spin each wheel. Nothing should touch or rub.
    • Adjust tabs or wires if needed.

GLOWZ does not use the ZENGGE app. Control it with the included IR remote or the touch switch on the unit. The IR remote needs line of sight, so point it at the GLOWZ unit.

Steps

  1. Open the strap
    • Unscrew the elastic strap from the GLOWZ unit with the included M1.5 Allen SK8Tool & Allen Wrench. Both sides are adjustable, so you can open either end.
    • Recommended: stick the double-sided tape or velcro on top of the GLOWZ unit to stop slipping.

  2. Route the strap under the boot
    • Boots with a heel gap: lay the skate on its side and slip the open end of the strap through the heel gap.
    • Boots without a heel gap: take the clip off the strap, loosen the boot from the plate, slide the band under the boot, center it and reassemble.
  3. Tighten the strap
    • Stretch the strap into position. It must be very tight to prevent slipping.
    • If it's loose, tighten and readjust the band.
  4. Mount the GLOWZ unit
    • Peel the tape or velcro and press GLOWZ onto the plate between your trucks.
    • Line the strap up over the screw holes, lightly start the screws, then hand-tighten until snug. Do not overtighten.

  • M1.5 Allen SK8Tool & Allen Wrench (included)
  • Double-sided tape (included)

Aggressive skaters: use the included double-sided tape along with the elastic strap to cut down on movement and tighten fit.

Steps

  1. Open the strap
    • Unscrew the adjustable "LYTZ" side of the strap with the included M1.5 Allen SK8Tool & Allen Wrench.
    • Highly recommended: stick the double-sided tape on top of the HALOZ unit before installing.

  2. Route the strap under the boot
    • Boots with a heel gap: lay the skate on its side and slip the adjustable "LYTZ" side of the strap through the heel gap.
    • Boots without a heel gap: take the clip off the strap, loosen the boot from the plate, slide the band under the boot, center it and reassemble.

  3. Tighten the strap
    • Stretch the strap into position and check tightness and fit.
    • It must be very tight to prevent slipping. If it's loose, tighten and readjust the band.

  4. Mount the HALOZ unit
    • Peel the tape and press HALOZ onto the skate plate.
    • Line the strap up over the screw holes, lightly start the screws, then hand-tighten until snug. Do not overtighten.

What you need

Install SOULZ units

M1.5 Allen SK8Tool & Allen Wrench (included)

Remove wheels

Skate tool or 1/2" socket set

Loosen plate/boot nuts

5/16" wrench or socket (socket preferred)

Cut LED strips

Sharp scissors or wire snips

Don't cut the LED strip short. Start long and trim back a little at a time.

Experiment with angles. Over 24 clips in different sizes are included. Try different sizes and angles so the strip follows your plate.

Aggressive skaters: use double-sided tape along with the elastic strap.

Steps

  1. Remove wheels & loosen plate nuts
    • Remove the wheels.
    • Loosen the nuts that hold your plates to your boots. Don't remove them. Loosen them just enough to slide the strip clips snugly between plate and boot.

    • Highly recommended: stick the double-sided tape on top of the SOULZ unit before installing.

  3. Route the strap under the boot
    • Boots with a heel gap: lay the skate on its side and slip the adjustable side through the heel gap.
    • Boots without a heel gap: take the clip off the strap, loosen the boot from the plate, slide the band under the boot, center it and reassemble.

  4. Tighten the strap
    • Stretch the strap into position. It must be very tight to prevent slipping.
    • If it's loose, pull to tighten and readjust the band.

  5. Mount the SOULZ unit
    • Peel the tape and press the SOULZ unit onto the skate plate.
    • Line the strap up over the screw holes, lightly start the screws, then hand-tighten until snug. Do not overtighten.

  6. Start the strip at the rear heel
    • Insert the LED strip into the rear heel between plate and boot, wires facing down.
    • Install an X-Small wire clamp on the strip, usually about 1/2" from the rear heel.
    • Install a mounting clip with a wire clamp above the rear wheels to shape the strip around your plate.
    • Partially tighten the rear plate nuts to hold the clips. Keep clips away from the nuts so your wrench fits.

  7. Add front clips
    • Install the right size mounting clip above the front wheels to shape the strip around the curve of your plate.

  8. Install the toe clip
    • Install the LED strip TOE clip at the front center of the boot.

  9. Tighten all plate nuts
    • Hold the clips in place and tighten all plate/boot nuts.

  10. Secure the wire sleeving
    • Press the wire sleeving into all wire clamps.

  11. Seat the strip in every clip
    • Press the LED strip into all mounting clips.
    • Check that the strip and clips fit tight and follow your skate before you cut anything.

  12. Cut the strip to size

    Don't connect the strip wires before cutting, and don't cut the silicone or strip too short.

    • Pull the strip around the front TOE clip and mark the center.
    • Cut the outer silicone only at the mark. Don't cut the LED strip yet.
    • Cut the LED strip at the copper pads.
    • Insert the silicone and strip into the TOE clip, check the shape, then trim the silicone back in small steps. Fold the strip inside the silicone if needed.
    • Re-insert the strip tightly into the TOE clip. Keep it close to the boot and plate without bulging.

  13. Connect the wires
    • Connect both wires to the SOULZ unit and route them through the wire clamps.
    • Add X-Small wire clamps if needed so wires stay clear of your skating.

  14. Final check & reinstall wheels
    • Check the strip and clip fit before putting the wheels back on.
    • Reinstall the wheels and make sure nothing touches or rubs.
    • Readjust clamps or clips if needed.

Install guide

Tool-free heel clip · under 30 seconds +
  1. Snap it on
    • Snap CLIPZ around the heel of your skate boot. No tools needed.
  2. Turn it on
    • Tap the button to turn it on, then tap again to switch between Rotating Multicolor and Flashing.
  3. Replace batteries when dim

Button cell battery hazard. Keep out of reach of children. Swallowing a coin cell can cause serious injury or death in as little as 2 hours. If swallowed, get medical help right away. If the battery compartment won't close securely, stop using the product.

Name & Group Your Skates

  1. Discover
    • Turn on Bluetooth, power on both skates and open ZENGGE. It will find your SK8Lytz controllers.

  2. Name each skate
    • Long press each controller and choose "Device information."
    • Name them, for example Right Skate and Left Skate.

  3. Create a group
    • Long press one controller and choose "Create a group."
    • Name it "My Skates," select both skates and tap Save.

Keep your skates in sync. Always control them from the "My Skates" group, not the individual controllers.

SOULZ only: set your LED points

The full 14" strip has 43 LEDs. After cutting, tell the app how many are left:

  • Long press each controller › Device information › LED Strip Setting.
  • Set Points to the number of LEDs left on your strip (for example 34). Leave Segments at 1.
  • Repeat on both the left and right controllers.

LED Strip Settings come pre-configured, so you can skip them.

  • RAILZ: 16 points, 1 segment
  • HALOZ: 8 points, 2 segments

Control them with the ZENGGE app over Bluetooth, or the included 2.4GHz RF remote. The RF remote works without line of sight.

GLOWZ New

Control it with the included IR remote or the touch switch on the unit.

  • 16 solid colors and 2 modes.
  • IR needs line of sight. Point the remote straight at the GLOWZ unit, within a few feet.
  • Short press the button to power on, long press to power off.

Get more battery life: lower the brightness, use modes with less white light and fewer active LEDs, and try music, chasing or other sequential modes.

Quick fixes

Troubleshooting

The app can't find my SK8Lytz
  • Make sure Bluetooth is on and the unit is powered on and charged.
  • Stand close to the skates and refresh the device list.
  • Close and reopen ZENGGE. On Android, allow the app's Location/Nearby Devices permission.
  • GLOWZ and CLIPZ won't appear in the app. They don't use Bluetooth.
My skates show different colors or patterns

Control them from the "My Skates" group, not one controller at a time. If you haven't made a group yet, follow step 3.

Part of my SOULZ strip is dark, or the pattern looks off

Update the Points setting to match how many LEDs are left after cutting (leave Segments at 1). Also check that the strip was cut on the copper pads and the connector is fully seated.

My GLOWZ remote isn't working

The IR remote needs line of sight. Aim it straight at the GLOWZ unit from a few feet away. Check that the unit is charged and powered on (short press), and replace the remote's coin battery if needed.

My unit slips or moves while skating

Tighten the elastic strap. It should be very tight. Add the included double-sided tape or velcro between the unit and the plate. This is highly recommended for aggressive skaters.

How do I get more battery life?

Lower the brightness and use modes with fewer active LEDs and less white light. Charge fully before each session.
